Located in the south of Bwindi National Park with views out to the Virunga Volcanoes, this luxurious lodge is just a short walk from the start point for tracking the Nkuringo group of mountain gorillas.
The lodge consists of eight stone-built cottages with a living area, bedroom, en suite bathroom and open fireplace. The attractive main building, which is set in a lush botanical garden, houses a spacious lounge, a cosy library, the dining room and bar area, reception and a shop, with various fireplaces to keep it warm throughout the day. The furnishing are soft and plush, with lots of turned wood, and walls adorned with works commissioned from Ugandan artists.
Situated at over 2,000 metres above sea level, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is Uganda’s highest lodge. Far-reaching views from the verandah stretch over the thick canopy of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and beyond to the golden grasses of the Western Rift Valley, taking in the Virunga Volcanoes in Rwanda, and extending right across the border towards Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Constructed with the ultimate goal of protecting the mountain gorilla's natural habitat, the lodge works closely with the community of Nkuringo, who have a significant stake in the venture.
