Hemmingways Lodge

The main centre for bluewater fishing is 140 km north of Mombasa, at this famous hotel overlooking the beautiful white sands of Watamu Beach. During the fishing season, which runs from August to April, the chief attractions are sailfish and marlin, but there are also tuna, wahoo, and dorado to be caught.

The white sands of Watamu Bay and its crystal waters form Kenya's finest stretch of beach. Vasco de Gama passed this way and erected a tower on the headland to mark his progress. It is an area of great beauty and interest; there are coral reefs to marvel at, the ruins of ancient Gede to be explored.
