This exquisite lodge, one of India’s most luxurious wildlife properties, takes its inspiration – and its name – from the Madhuca indica or, as it is commonly known, the mahua or butter tree.

The property covers a a 16-hectare private estate, just 20 minutes drive from the entrance to Bandhavgarh National ParkThe beautifully renovated original kothi (homestead) houses the communal areas, while the accommodation is entirely new. The 12 charming rustic kutiyas (luxury jungle village cottages) are built in the vernacular style of Madhya Pradesh state, affectionately known as ‘MP chic’.

Mahua Kothi Lodge operates twice daily wildlife safari drives into the Park, seaching out the region’s rich wildlife, including tiger, sloth bear, leopard, jungle cat and wild dog. Bird enthusiasts can try their luck at spotting Mahua Kothi’s ten star birds, from the gorgeous Indian peafowl (peacock) to the shaheen falcon.
