Inspired by the wonderfully rich cultural heritage of Zimbabwe, the luxury Matetsi River Lodge showcases vibrant themes of wood and copper, in tastefully furnished river-facing suites.
Located on the Zambezi River, the lodge consists of two river-facing camps, each with nine exquisite suites. The suites have an indoor and outdoor shower, a circular bath, a private verandah with seating and a plunge pool providing unforgettable views across the river. Both camps boast their own communal areas, with a variety of dining spaces, an interactive kitchen for preparing locally grown produce, and a bar and al fresco area encircling a warm, crackling fire bowl.
Large herds of elephant and buffalo can be seen within the 50,000-hectare private wildlife concession, as well as kudu, sable, roan antelope, lion, leopard, hippo, spotted hyena, African wild dog, and an astonishing 366 bird species.
Activities at the lodge include visits to the spectacular, thundering Victoria Falls, riverboat cruises along the Zambezi, canoeing, game drives in the early mornings and late afternoons, and bush walks accompanied by the in-house naturalist guides. The lodge itself also boasts a 25-metre swimming pool which stretches along the riverbank, as well as a fitness centre, massage sala and exclusive wine cellar.
