Located in a private concession area in northwest Damaraland, Palmwag Lodge sits under whispering palm trees on the Uniab River.
The lodge offers accommodation for 30 guests in thatched bungalows, ten beds in en suite tents and an eight bedded family unit. Also located under the trees are a restaurant, swimming pool and thatched pool bar.
The surrounding rock formations and desert provide habitat for a variety of unique and rare flora and fauna, and well laid-out hiking trails allow guests to wander and enjoy the natural surroundings. Daily safaris in 4 x 4 vehicles offer good opportunities to encounter local wildlife uch as zebra, kudu, oryx (gemsbok), springbuck, ostrich, jackal, hyena; and with a bit of luck, desert adapated black rhino and desert elephant.
Interesting day trips can also be arranged to visit the nomadic Ovahimba people, to learn more about their ancient traditions and rituals.
