A working farm, Pousada Aguape has been in the same family for around 150 years and has recently diversified to include ecotourism, community and conservation initiatives amongst its activities.

The lodge offers 15 well-appointed rooms, all with air conditioning, ceiling fans and a private bathroom. There is a swimming pool, as well as thatched 'kiosks' and hammocks in which you can lie back and watch the stunning Pantanal sunsets. For the more energetic, the lodge offers a sand volleyball court and a games room. The restaurant serves traditional regional dishes featuring typical Pantanal ingredients, many of which have been produced on the farm.

The grounds are perfect for spotting birds, and occasionally mammals – such as armadillo, crab-eating fox and capybara. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded here including the vibrant hyacinth macaw, roseate spoonbill, crimson-crested woodpecker and common toucan. The lodge also offers a programme of excursions, to bring you closer to the fascinating and often colourful wildlife of the region. The area is particularly good for giant anteaters. Pousada Aguape operates a number of conservation projects including the Hyacinth Macaw Project and the Anteater Project.
