Accommodation in Safari Houses of Africa: Wolwedans Private Camp
Namib Rand Nature Reserve, Namibia
-
Location:
Sossusvlei is one of the most remarkable sites in the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia's Namib Desert. Here, huge towering dunes, the highest in the world, rise dramatically over 1000 feet above the surrounding plains. The spectacle of changing colours and the lonely Oryx silhouetted against red dunes is one which visitors and photographers from around the world come to savour and capture on film.
The Namib Desert is considered to be the oldest desert in the world, and although this is not a game rich area, the wildlife to be found is interesting and often unique - having adapted itself to the harsh environment. Among the larger animals to be found are the springbok, Gemsbok (Oryx), Ostrich and wild horses. The rare and elusive Aardvark is occasionally sighted at night, along with Cape Fox, Polecats, Aardwolf and other nocturnal animals. With no light pollution and virtually guaranteed clear nights the Namib is considered to be one of the finest star-gazing areas in southern Africa.
Situated just south of Sossusvlei, in the quiet seclusion of an idyllic valley, Private Camp caters for four guests exclusively. It is the perfect getaway for honeymooners or individuals seeking uncompromising privacy and solitude. A private chef and your personal field guide ensure you are well looked after throughout your stay. Private Camp - your 'home away from home' - comprises two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, a veranda and the lounge, combining a study, the living-room, a dining area and a fully equipped open plan kitchen.
