Our group tours

We offer outstanding hand-picked holidays to some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife and birdwatching destinations. We keep groups small for the vast majority of our tours – many are limited to just six people. Small group size is essential for maximising good wildlife sightings, allowing adequate room for photography and scopes, and for comfort when travelling. Our range of group tours also includes our highly popular Festival of Wildlife groups, plus classic safari group tours, expert led photography trips and dedicated big cat, bear, whale watching holidays.

Our tours are designed for couples, groups of friends or family, and solo travellers, and all our trips can be extended. You can see our range of scheduled group wildlife holidays in our tour calendar, and many of these can also be booked as private group holidays, allowing you the flexibility to choose who you travel with and when you want to go. We're very proud of our team of expert naturalist guides and tour leaders, and our experienced in-house team travels regularly to destinations across the globe in search of the very best wildlife events and locations to offer you the best choice.

Tour Leaders

Mark Carwardine - tour leader
Our expert leaders are all-round naturalists with a wealth of field and leadership experience – quite simply, we hand-pick the best leaders in the industry! Most are professional tour leaders or work in wildlife-related professions and all have in-depth knowledge of the destinations and species on the trips they lead. In addition, many also have a wealth of knowledge about the country’s culture and speak a number of languages. Some of our tour leaders specialise in the wildlife of single destinations, while others lead multiple tours each year. Many are leading figures in their particular field, including broadcaster and zoologist Mark Carwardine, award-winning photographers Nick GarbuttAlex HydeBret Charman, Emma Healey, Sean Weekly and Neil Aldridge who lead a portfolio of specialist wildlife photography and videography holidays; and TV naturalists Mike Dilger and Nick Baker.

Private Group Holidays

Family safari in Zambia
Travelling as part of a small group can be very rewarding. However, the dates are fixed, and may not suit your needs, and, in addition, you may prefer to choose the group of people you travel with. The vast majority of our small group trips can be offered on a private basis, either as small private group or on a tailor-made basis for individuals and couples. Limited to just six participants, our Best of Botswana trips are a superb option for private parties and families alike. Sichuan's Sensational Mammals & Birds also works very well, as do our Nagerhole’s Tigers, Wild Dogs & Leopards trips to India and Classic South Luangwa Safaris to Zambia. We can advise on the best time to travel and you can choose your dates.

Our Festival of Wildlife Groups

Festival of Wildlife in Canada
Since our first Festival of Wildlife in 2004, this winning formula – of a range of wildlife–based excursions alongside a programme of expert-led workshops and talks – offers a very special celebration of wildlife for all those who take part. Over the years, our Festivals of Wildlife have proved a huge success and seen a phenomenal array of wildlife, from leopards, lions, elephants and wild dogs on our African Festivals to lemurs in Madagascar, tigers in India, spirit bears and grizzlies in Canada, and orangutans and proboscis monkeys in Borneo. We hand-pick a special Festival Team to lead these wildlife holidays – this comprises a selection of the very best naturalists, guides, photographers, artists and experienced expedition crew (if appropriate), who together offer an unmatched choice of talks, presentations, workshops and field knowledge.

Safari Group Tours

Tiger in Bandhavgarh, India
When people think of a wildlife holiday, a classic African safari is often the first thing that comes to mind. However, while Africa offers the greatest range of safaris – from the Okavango Delta in Botswana and Namibia’s Etosha to witnessing the Great Migration in Tanzania’s Serengeti or heading out with a wild dog pack in Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park. We also offer a superb variety of safaris across the world including to IndiaBorneoBrazil and Nepal. Our safaris are typically restricted to just six participants, and we offer an extensive range of small group safaris to suit all budgets, from great value safaris designed to keep costs low to top-end luxury experiences. Whether you're a first-time safari-goer or a safari aficionado, and whether you want to stay in tents or enjoy a luxury-in-the-field experience, our portfolio of holidays can offer it!

Accommodation

Sepilok Nature Lodge in Borneo
A vital part of the success of all our holidays is the accommodation we use. We put you in the best places for seeing the wildlife and use the best accommodation available in the area, whether that's boutique or luxury hotels, guesthouses, family-run fincas, chalets, lodges on the edge of national parks or tented camps. In some cases this will be of a very high standard and quite luxurious, such as on our South Africa's Rare Mammals in Style holiday, while on others it will be more rustic, as on our luxury mobile camping safari in Botswana, or a mixture of both - Borneo's Rare Mammals. Unless otherwise stated it will also be en suite. We take great pride in seeking out locally owned and staffed accommodation with high sustainability credentials as well as an ethos of respect for the local wildlife and environment.

Solo Travellers

Looking out to the landscape in Tafika, Zambia
One of the great benefits and pleasures of joining one of our small group wildlife holidays is the chance to travel with like-minded people who can offer companionship. Indeed, the bonds formed during such holidays, taking you to witness incredible sights and enjoy once in a lifetime experiences, can lead to lifelong friendships. Our groups typically comprise a mixture of singles and couples, and we're happy to accommodate solo travellers in single rooms, or to pair people of the same sex up where possible, to avoid paying a supplement. And some of our trips have no single supplement such as our trips to NorfolkIsle of Mull Extravaganza & Autumn and our Kalahari Conservation Experience.

Extend your Holiday

Iguazu Falls in Brazil
Our roots are in tailor-made holidays, and our expertise is second to none in designing trips that allow you the freedom and flexibility to travel how, where and when you want to go. We bring this experience, and the intimate knowledge we have built up over many years of the destinations we visit, to our small group holidays. Our group trips are often designed to enable you to minimise the amount of annual leave taken; however, if you're not restricted by this, we can easily make additional arrangements for you before and/or after your holiday so that you can enjoy extra time in a particular destination. Air fares are very often one of the most expensive components of any trip so it makes sense to maximise your time once there. Iguazú Falls is a very popular extension for trips to the Pantanal, while a stay at the superb Victoria Falls combines well with trips to Zambia and Botswana.

Pioneering

Snow leopard in Ladakh, India
Our expert team likes to challenge the boundaries of the wildlife, and wild places, it's possible to venture to, and we're passionate about introducing new and original trips that are unique to the market. Over the past 30 years we have been the first to launch numerous exciting trips to far-flung destinations in search of incredible wildlife – including amazing spectacles, and particular species such as the melanistic leopard or ‘black panther’ as it's more commonly known. Our highly successful black leopard trip to southern India’s Nagarhole National Park is just the latest in our series of wildlife holidays and pioneering voyages worldwide. In Mongolia we search for rare cats of the mountains and steppe such as Pallas’ cat and snow leopard; and we’ve been the first to launch trips in search of rare mammals to both Colombia and Botswana.
