Galapagos ExpertIf you are planning to visit us at Destinations and are interested in a future visit to the Galapagos Islands then please come and talk to an expert who will be joining us on the stand from 2-4pm on Friday 1st Feb. Pierre Thomas is a Certified Naturalist Guide of the Galapagos National Park as well as a professional, and very accomplished speaker and trainer on the destination. From 1994-2003 Pierre was naturalist guide and expedition leader on board the cruise ships Santa Cruz and Isabella. In that capacity he was responsible for organising the guiding, daily excursions and activities generally associated with the appreciation and understanding of the wildlife and nature of that unique environment. |

Orcas and the Northern LightsYou don't need a Golden Compass to take you to see the beauty of the Aurora Borealis. If you are also keen to see Orcas without travelling huge distances, a flight to Evenes in Norway is the starting point for a magical trip beyond the Arctic circle to see these beautiful predators. Schools of herring are the attraction and great sightings can be had, along with White-tailed Sea Eagles. Back at the hotel, as night falls, the wonders of the Northern Lights can be witnessed. |

Bountiful BrazilSarah Williams recently set foot in Brazil - South America until now, having been an unexplored region for Sarah. If you received last month's eNews, you will have learned about Sarah's involvement in the Hyacinth Macaw Project in the Pantanal. Sarah, as part of our 'Brazil's Endangered Wildlife' itinerary, also encountered plenty of the wide variety of other wildlife in the area, as well as a dip into the Natural Aquarium and visit to Blue Lake Grotto. |

Costa Rican EveningWay back in November, we jointly hosted a Costa Rican Evening at our barn offices with Families Worldwide. The evening was great fun and involved a presentation by our Costa Rican operator whilst sampling specially prepared Costa Rican cocktails and nibbles. The highlight of the event was the winning of a trip - 'The Jewels of Costa Rica' by attendee Simon Crosbie. |

Antarctic AdventureOur very own Chris Osborn from the sales team at Wildlife Worldwide recently ventured south for a long awaited trip to bag the final continent piece in his world jigsaw - Antarctica. Chris travelled with Quark Expeditions on board the Ocean Nova, a vessel with the capacity for up to 68 passengers and he enjoyed almost every minute of his trip; the only challenge being to find his sea legs during the crossing of the Drake Passage! |

Photography weekend SnapsOn heading up towards the Peak District through the cold sheeting rain last Friday evening I did begin to wonder exactly how much we might be able to achieve on a photography weekend within the confines of our base - The George Hotel at Hathersage in Derbyshire. We were hosting a weekend for general and more specialised photography techniques to be tutored by top wildlife photographers Nick Garbutt and Chris Mattison. |
