Join wildlife photographer Ben Sutcliffe on this spring bird photography tour to Kiskunság National Park in Hungary.
The hides we use are located in scenic and bird-rich areas and are set up by cleverly-designed drinking stations at the forest edge, others by marshes or beside the shallow water of alkaline lakes. The hides offer truly unparalleled views and provide tremendous possibilities for close-up bird photography, where each day may bring something entirely new and unexpected!
Typical Itinerary
Day1: Fly to Budapest and transfer to Tiszaalpar
We fly from London to Budapest, where we meet our local guide and drive 125 kilometres south-east to the village of Tiszaalpar, located just a few minutes from the hides.
Our usual daily routine is to head out into Kiskunsag National Park before sunrise (taking a picnic breakfast with us) so that we are in the hides for the best activity and light as the sun comes up. After three or four hours in the hides we take a leisurely drive back towards Tiszaalpar keeping our eyes open for photographic opportunities as we go. Back at base we have a generous brunch and can then either rest, view the results of our mornings work or wander locally seeking out more images. Later we will head out for an afternoon session in drinking pool hides or in a strategically placed mobile hide. We then return to Tiszaalpar for an evening meal before heading to our rooms.
Day7: Drive back to Budapest and fly back to the UK
We may have a little time for some local photography before we drive back to Budapest to catch our flight back to London.

Ben has travelled to many countries from a young age including North and Central America, as well more widely in Europe. Ben's fascination for travelling helped fuel his passion for wildlife photography and couple with his infectious enthusiasm, he is an excellent young leader.
Since completing a PhD in bird ecology, István has worked as a warden in the Kiskunság National Park where he lives on the fringes in a small village with his family.
A native Hungarian, István has guided wildlife tours in several European countries including Montenegro, Albania, Croatia and his home country as well. In addition to this, he has broadened his experience by visiting Poland and Romania as well. István’s extensive travels and guiding experience has allowed him to learn multiple languages and he is able to speak English, Spanish and Serbian. He also has a passion for wildlife and nature photography which makes him ideally suited for co-leading our bird photography tour in Hungary.
