Big Cat Weekend

Following the success of BBC's Big Cat Diary why not go on your own Big Cat Weekend in the Masai Mara. Stay at Governor's Camp where the series was based, and go on safari in search of the Lions, Cheetahs and Leopards made famous in the programme. Local expert guides will tell you all about the cats and the numerous other species you will have seen on TV - take your own camera and film your own wildlife documentary! This is a perfect location for a long weekend.

Day 1

Depart from the UK for your overnight flight to Nairobi

Day 2 - 5

Upon arrival at Nairobi International airport, you will be met and transferred to the Domestic Airport where you will catch your onward connection to the Masai Mara. You will spend the following 3 nights at Governor's camp on a full board basis.

Governor's Camp

Governor's Camp has a magical setting. So much so that almost a century ago it was reserved, exclusively, for Kenya's colonial Governors and their royal visitors. Now Governor's Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, its waters teeming with hippo and crocodile. Some of the 38 tents line the riverbank, with uninterrupted views over the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains. Created in 1972 Governors' Camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it's still Africa's best. Everything is under canvas, all tents have en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets.

Each morning a breakfast feast is prepared over blazing coals: mountains of bacon, eggs the way you like them, fresh milk flown-in daily, hot-baked croissants, exotic fruits, and freshly-brewed Kenya coffee. Lunch, like breakfast is a buffet, this time roast meats hot and cold, fresh salads and delicious desserts. Both meals are served on the shady riverbank with views across the Mara's plains.

Day 5

After an early rise for final game viewing trip, you fly back to Nairobi airport, where you will have use of a dayroom at the Hilton Hotel, before checking in at the International terminal for your flight home.
