Churchill in Summer

Day 1. Depart London [D]

Depart London for Winnipeg, flying via Toronto. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Hotel Fort Garry for a 1-night stay.

Day 2. Winnipeg [B, L]

Today you will have the chance to explore historic Winnipeg and the outlying areas, including Oak Hammock Marsh Reserve, where you have the opportunity to learn about northern prairie and marsh environments and see a variety of northern wildlife. You will also have the opportunity to visit The Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature, consistently voted the best museum in Canada. Here, you will gain an insight into the pioneer past of this historic region and the native cultures of the north. This evening you board the train to Churchill.

Day 3. Train to Churchill

Travelling out of Winnipeg, you make stops in various villages along the way. You leave the southern Canadian prairies, briefly heading into Saskatchewan, before continuing into the boreal forest at Gillam. South of Thompson you disembark and board a bus for a trip to visit a northern waterfall and explore the surrounding area. The final leg on board the train takes you out of the forest into the tundra on the outskirts of Churchill. A trip on this special 'Tundra Train' provides a unique way of exploring the northern eco-systems.

Days 4 to 7. Churchill [B (Days 5 to 7 only), L, D]

After arriving in Churchill early on the morning of Day 4, you head out for the first of three trips to see Beluga Whales in the Churchill River. Two of the Beluga Whale excursions will be on board zodiacs, giving you a unique, eye-level look at the Beluga Whales.

Day 8. Winnipeg [B, L, D]

After a free morning to visit the Eskimo Museum, a wonderful collection of native Arctic artifacts, and pick up some authentic carvings and other souvenirs, you transfer to the airport for your return flight to Winnipeg. Spend a further night at the Hotel Fort Garry.

Day 9. Homeward [B]

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight.

Day 10. Arrive home
