Extension ideas for Falkland Islands

You may wish to extend your stay in the Falkland Islands and include additional island visits, or indeed wish to shorten your stay. Since we tailor-make all of our trips to the Falkland Islands, we would be very happy to alter the suggested itinerary should you wish - perhaps we can tempt you with the following options:
Bleaker Island
Situated just off the south-east coast of East Falkland, this island is particularly interesting as it has a large colony of Rockhopper Penguins in addition to Magellanic and Gentoo Penguins. There is also a large King Cormorant colony and Striated Caracaras are often seen. The island has many pools which are home to a large number of waterfowl including White-tufted, and Silver Grebes, and Black Necked Swans.

The island is fairly flat, so walking between the various bird colonies is easy and there are many sandy beaches to stroll along. Accommodation is at the island settlement on either a self-catering or full board basis.

Saunders Island
Saunders Island is the second largest of the Falkland Islands and is home to a staggering amount of wildlife. Here you may see a colony of 11,000 breeding pairs of Black-Browed Albatross, Magellanic, Gentoo, Rockhopper and Macaroni Penguins as well as a growing colony of King Penguins.
Expedition Voyages
Many people choose to visit the Falkland Islands while on an expedition voyage. These voyages usually commence from the town of Ushuaia, in southern Argentina. A popular choice is The Explorer's route - Click here for details.
