Plancius
Adventure
Built in 1976, the MV Plancius has a storied past as a hydrographic research vessel in the service of the Dutch government. Purchased in 2006 by the current owner, the vessel has undergone a total refit and refurbishment to prepare her for carrying passengers on polar expeditions. The ship complies with the latest SOLAS regulations and is classed by Lloyd's Register in London. A maximum of 112 passengers are accommodated in cabins ranging from triple to superior, all featuring an outside view and private facilities. With both bow and stern thrusters the ship can manoeuvre in and out of the most interesting places safely. The large open deck spaces offer excellent wildlife watching opportunities and two starboard gangways guarantee smooth zodiac operations.
