Extension ideas for South Africa

Cape Town
Cape Town is a cosmopolitan city with much to see and do. Drive to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for an introduction to the region's endemic flora, see the Magellanic Penguins on the beach at Boulders, take in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, and enjoy a full day trip to the wetland bird sanctuary of Langebaan Lagoon. The cable car ride up Table Mountain is not to be missed and offers superb photographic opportunities. There is accommodation to suit all tastes from guesthouses to well known hotels and with its world famous restaurants, Cape Town is well worth a stop.
Privately guided safaris in South Africa
For the last year or so we have been working with Patrick Cardwell, a highly experienced guide, for private safaris throughout the country from two nights to two or three week trips. We have had nothing but rave reviews! Patrick's interests embrace all aspects of the environment from the geological origins of habitats to the stunning night skies that make Africa so special! Patrick has a wonderfully enthusiastic way of putting this across.

For your ultimate safari experience, we can arrange for Patrick to be your personal guide and accompany you for either all, or part of your holiday as required. Patrick's knowledge is unsurpassed and to have him as your personal guide is surely an opportunity not to be missed!

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
This is the remote and least visited of South Africa's parks but is a haven for wildlife. There are good populations of Springbok, Blue Wildebeest, Gemsbok and the endearing Meerkats, while black-maned Lions are perhaps the most thrilling of its residents. The birdwatching is excellent too.
Fugitives Drift Lodge
Owners David and Nicky Rattray, have created an award winning lodge for visitors to savour the extraordinary saga of the Zulu wars, with superb accommodation offered at Fugitives Drift Lodge itself and the nearby guesthouse. It is renowned for its tours to the Anglo-Boer War battle sites in the region led by excellent guides who make the history of these times come alive.
