The recently refurbished Spirit of Enderby accommodates 48 passengers in comfortable cabins ranging from twin cabins with shared facilities to a suite. A sister ship to the Akademik Shokalskiy, this class of vessel is ideally suited for expedition cruising in the southern ocean. Public areas include a lounge, bar, library, dining room and newly constructed lecture room with the latest technology in audio presentation. The ship is manned by Russian officers and crew, with New Zealand and Australian hotel and expedition staff. Zodiac landing craft are available for ship to shore transportation as well as amphibious all terrain vehicles, which are used to cross fast ice that even the most powerful icebreaker cannot penetrate. A helicopter is also on board for ice and wildlife exploration.
