Andenes, the northernmost settlement on the island of Andøya, is known historically as one of the largest fishing ports in Norway, however nowadays is the base for incredible whale watching.

Around 300 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, this small village looks out over the Atlantic Ocean, where numerous whale species including killer, fin, sperm, minke and humpback whale are found in abundance.

Due to its northerly location, the midnight sun is visible during the months of May to July, while from November to January, the sun sits below the horizon. During the winter the months, Andenes is great place to see the spectacular Aurora Borealis.
