Wolves were reintroduced into the Lamar Valley in the mid-1990s, and since then the area has become the destination of choice for those hoping to watch grey wolves in the wild.

Located in the remote northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park, here not only will you find the greatest concentration of wolves in the whole park, but also grizzly bear and bison.  Other species that you may see include, elk, osprey, bald eagles, moose and black bears – early morning or late evening is the best time to see wildlife.

The eight and a half kilometre Lamar Trail is an ideal way to explore the valley, taking in the sights and atmosphere at your own pace.

  • Ideal for viewing: elk, grey wolf, Canada goose, bighorn sheep
  • Where: Wyoming, USA
