Zombitse-Vohibasia consists of transitional forest and sandstone domes, interspersed with canyons, harbouring eight species of lemurs, and 41 frogs and reptiles.

Among the 85 bird species recorded here, notable species include the Madagascar buzzard, Madagascar cuckoo roller, greater and lesser vasa parrot and grey-headed lovebird. It is also home to one of Madagascar’s rarest endemics, Appert’s greenbul

Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park is located to the west of the Islolo Massif, 135 kilometres from Toliara on the southwest coast. There is no accommodation, therefore the park is best visited as a day trip.
