Things to see in Kenya: Lake Nakuru National Park

This national park and associated rhino sanctuary lies in the Great Rift Valley. The small, shallow, alkaline lake is known for one of the greatest bird spectacles on earth – a multitude of fuschia-coloured flamingos that at times seems to turn the lake pink. Over 400 species of birds are resident here, and the surrounding park is famous for its sizeable population of both black and white rhinos. The rare Rothschild’s giraffe is present, and the park is also home to buffalo, wild dog, zebra, eland, waterbuck and lion.
