Things to see in Botswana: Okavango Delta
This wildlife paradise consists of 1.6 million hectares of glistening waterways in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, that attract a myriad of birds and large concentrations of wildlife. Almost any outing yields fantastic sightings of birds and wildlife that includes red lechwe, sitatunga, reedbuck, sable, roan, tsessebe and impala, blue wildebeest, hippo and Nile crocodile.
Most camps and lodges are located in wetland areas that are known for their concentrations of wildlife. The water level of the Delta varies throughout the year. This is reflected in the activities provided, which may be either water-based or land-based, or a mix of both. The highest water levels occur between April and September. To experience the full range of activities we recommend that you stay at a combination of camps in different areas.
