The intimate M/V Ursus accommodates a maximum of eight guests, and is ideal for close-up encounters with grizzlies as they wander the rocky shoreline.

Originally built as a crab fishing boat, the 22-metre 'Grizzly Ship' sails out of Katmai and features four cabins, each with upper/lower berths. There are two showers and toilets to share, a small library, computer and DVD player, plus all modern state-of-the-art navigation and safety equipment.  Zodiac inflatables are used for the shore excursions, with waterproof boots/waders provided. An onboard chef prepares delicious local specialities, including fresh Alaskan seafood.

The ship is known for its appearance on the Discovery Channel TV series ‘The Deadliest Catch’, filmed in the stormy and challenging Bering Sea, before being used for research by the National Park Service and subsequently converted for marine charter use.
