The luxurious Hotel das Cataratas is the only hotel inside Iguaçu National Park and enjoys an unrivalled location with exclusive access to the falls when the park is closed to other visitors.
Just a short stroll from the waterfalls of the Brazilian side, the hotel is unashamedly opulent and exudes the atmosphere of lazy days lounging on a verandah beneath sub-tropical palm trees. From just outside the hotel panoramic walkways zig-zag their way to the spectacular viewpoint over the Devil’s Throat.
Most of the 193 rooms are in the superior and deluxe categories, but there are also 15 suites and junior suites – spread over the main building, Garden Wing and Forest Wing. Two restaurants – one alongside the pool, and another on a verandah – serve both international and Brazilian food; there is a comfortable bar, and a spa that offers a wide variety of therapeutic treatments. Activities available here include white water rafting, helicopter trips over the falls, and jungle treks to see wildlife that includes colourful toucans and giant butterflies.
