Kakum National Park

Kakum National Park protects mammals such as giant bongo antelope and Diana monkey, as well as some birds of international significance. When to go

Late February is an excellent time to visit Ghana, as it falls at the end of the long dry season which makes it pleasanter to travel around the country, and the humidity is lower than during summer.

Seasons

  • Long rainy season

    Apr to Jun: Rainfall is highest in the south of the country and some areas can receive more than 2,000 mm of rain annually.
  • Short dry season; summer

    Jul to Aug: Summer can be very hot and humid, especially on the coast, with temperatures surpassing 30°C, dropping to 20°C at night.
  • Short rains

    Sep to Oct: North Ghana receives less rainfall than the south, and the most temperate area is the highlands around the Volta Basin.
  • Long dry season

    Nov to Mar: The long dry season between November and February is the best time to visit; travel is easier and humidity lower.
