Located on the Ampasindava Peninsula southwest of Nosy Be, Nosy Iranja offers important breeding beaches for nesting hawksbill and green turtles.

The island becomes two – Iranja Komba and Iranga Kely – at high tide, and at low tide they are linked by a long white sandbank. Both islands are surrounded by azure blue waters. Iranga Kely is the smaller of the two islands and the only settlement is found on Iranja Komba.

Some of the most enthralling wildlife experiences to be seen on Nosy Iranja are the hawksbill and green turtles coming up the beaches to lay their eggs. Then, the hatchlings escape from the nest and make their way to the ocean. Ongoing conservation work to safeguard the future of the turtles takes place on the island too.

There are also several snorkelling spots that are easy to access from Nosy Iranja and showcase the excellent marine life Madagascar has to offer.
