Location:
The Moremi Wildlife Reserve is a National Park in the heart of the Okavango Delta. It is dominated by a large central landmass known as Chiefs' Island, surrounded by water on all sides during the flood season. This is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt reserves in Africa - its western reaches are consumed by the Delta, and its eastern sector comprised of Mopane woodland and grassland. The highlight here is the high concentrations of plains animals and all the predators - including the big cats! Birdlife is equally amazing with Arnot's Chat, Southern Black Tit, Slaty Egret, Heuglin's Robin and a variety of woodpeckers, barbets and weavers amongst the specialities. Other notable birds include: Pel's Fishing Owl, Wattled Crane, African Skimmers and a host of eagles, vultures, raptors and kingfishers. The huge numbers of game here will not disappoint and neither will the luxurious lodges Mombo Camp and Xigera Camp. Moremi also offers the more adventurous the ultimate African safari experience - overnight Xigera Mokoro and Walking Trails where you sleep under the stars!
Situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief's Island, and within the Moremi Game Reserve, this camp offers arguably the best game-viewing in Botswana. There are three tented guest rooms and connecting walkways up to two metres off the ground, allowing game to wander freely through the camp. The dining room, bar and living area overlook the open plain in front of the camp and there is a plunge pool for relaxing in during the heat of the day.
