When to go

Rainfall occurs from October to May, with the best wildlife viewing during the dry season from June to September. This period offers excellent sightings of elephants and primates thanks to reduced vegetation, and it coincides with the humpback whale migration along the coast. Birdlife also concentrates around rivers and wetlands at this time, making it a strong season for both mammal and bird activity.

Seasons

  • Dry season

Jun to Sep: Best conditions for forest wildlife viewing, with reduced vegetation and animals concentrating around remaining water sources
  • Wet season

Oct to May: Wetter, more humid conditions, with lush vegetation creating beautiful backdrops for wildlife viewing

Wildlife events
