Liuwa Plain Adventure - 8 days
This flat wilderness with vast skies in Zambia's far west is remote, and travel is tough but rewarding! Wildebeest migrate in herds of up to a thousand at a time, mixed with zebra and sometimes tsessebe, between the western edge and the centre. Birdlife is spectacular: large groups of crowned crane mingle with wattled crane, Denham's and white-bellied bustard are common, and secretary birds stalk the plain. The diversity and number of waders and water birds is staggering, and in December many migrant birds join the residents on their way through. Abundant plains game attracts predators such as hyena, large packs of wild dog, cheetah and occasional lion.
