Overlooking the waters of the Zambezi River and with the rugged escarpment behind, Chongwe River Camp has a wonderful situation from which to enjoy the Lower Zambezi National Park.
Chongwe River Camp has just nine well-appointed and spacious tents which are all decorated with hand-crafted furniture and locally-made textiles. Each tent has a private verandah with views of the river as well as a large, concealed outdoor bathroom. The main communal area has all the facilities that you would expect from such a high-standard camp. The bar and comfortable lounge are excellent places to enjoy a drink in the evening and recall the wildlife sightings of the day.
The camp has a wide variety of activities to enjoy, allowing for a combination of land and water excursions which is the best way to enjoy the Lower Zambezi National Park. Day and night drives are available here as well as boat trips, fishing and walking safaris. You can see plenty of wildlife from the camp itself - crocodiles and large numbers of hippo can be seen from the verandahs. There is also some excellent birding to be done from the camp too, with sightings of Pel’s fishing owl, osprey’s and Schalow’s turaco not uncommon.
