From its start in the 1980s as a site for seasonal mobile camping safaris, Elephant Pepper Camp has grown gradually more luxurious to become the stylish camp it is today.
Named after the tree that grows here, it occupies a remote spot in the exclusive Mara North Conservancy, in the heart of the Masai Mara. Despite the elegance and comfort, the seasonal ethos has been preserved, and the camp is designed so it can be removed to leave a virgin site.
Accommodation is in eight luxury tents (four doubles and four twins) – large and bright, each with a spacious bathroom with running hot water. The Raj-style furniture mixes dark wood with brass fittings to give a classy feel, and the tents are spaced out to ensure privacy in a grove of trees that provides shade.
All tents can take an extra bed to accommodate a child, however another two honeymoon tents are ideal for either a couple that wants extra space and privacy, or a family. Located at either end of the camp, each of these comprises a master bedroom and a sitting room that can be converted into a second bedroom for children, plus an en suite bathroom.
All tents offer spectacular views over the savannah from a private verandah.
