Located the southern fringe of Nagarhole National Park, Kabini River Lodge was formerly the hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Mysore, and is now a typical Indian safari lodge. This is reflected in the colonial style architecture.
Based on a sprawling colonial estate in the heart of elephant country beside the River Kabini, the idyllic 21-hectare property has a charm all of its own. The spacious and comfortable accommodation – of quaint standard cottages, superior Maharaja cottages (with air conditioning) and tented cottages with modern bathrooms holds 68 guests in all. The absence of television helps maintain the feel of a bygone era, and meals in the river-facing gazebo provide an opportunity to share tales of the wild with fellow adventurers. The buffet serves Indian, international and Chinese cuisine, and there is a well-stocked bar. For anyone in search of rejuvenation, a range of ayurvedic treatments is available.
Activities include safaris into Nagarhole National Park to see elephant, sambar, spotted deer, gaur, wild boar and sloth bear, or boat trips on the Kabini River.
