Kakuli is a small luxurious tented camp located on an elevated section of the Luangwa River’s west bank, at its confluence with a small tributary called the Luwi River. Wildlife visiting the river can be easily spotted from the camp’s central thatched area.
This beautiful 5-bedroomed bush camp consists of large walk-in tents, each with a fan, an en suite bathroom and outdoor shower made from natural materials. A central area for dining and relaxing is a great place to curl up with a book or simply watch the wildlife on the river and wide grazing lawn in front of you. Wildlife-viewing activities here include walking safaris, and both day and night drives, and seasonal boating, with plenty of leopards and resident elephant to be seen around the camp.
A stay here can be combined with its sister camps (Luwi, Nsolo and Mchenja) to create a varied circuit in an area rich in wildlife.
