A luxury safari property that harks back to the charm and romance of a bygone era within the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, Kings Camp offers a top-class wildlife experience.

Kings Camp takes up an enviable position within the Timbavati, on the edge of a savannah dotted with Acacia trees and with an active waterhole right in front of camp regularly visited throughout the day and night by various species. An underground photographic hide, The Kings Warren, has been built to take advantage of these regular comings and goings, and guests are able to capture incredible low angle images of wildlife coming to drink. For those with more relaxation in mind, the viewing deck under thatch and swimming pool also possess views of the waterhole which can be enjoyed with a refreshing beverage or perhaps some pampering at the spa or gym is more suited. A soothing coffee lounge provides a delightful spot to unwind, with coffee machines, flat-screen TV, Apple Macbook and board games available for guest use to provide some entertainment between game drives. After a day on safari, the informal open-plan bar/lounge area is the perfect place to sip on a cocktail whilst regaling the days sightings either before or after dinner.

The lodge décor is beautifully opulent throughout and guests are accommodated across six luxury suites, one luxury family suite, two honeymoon suites and the Waterbuck private villa. The luxury suites feature awe-inspiring views of the surrounding landscape which can be appreciated from their own private verandah with plunge pool and outdoor sunken lounge with fire pit, the family suite enjoys all the same luxuries, along with additional shared space and its own outdoor dining area, ideal for private family dinners. The interiors are generously spacious and decorated with dark tones of wood to offset the natural colours of the bushveld. The honeymoon suites feature an inviting four poster bed within a completely open-plan layout, inclusive of lounge and bathroom to provide an intimate and romantic bush escape. Two sets of double doors open onto the private verandah where candle-lit dinners can be enjoyed between couples looking for a little more privacy around the large plunge pool. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, indoor and outdoor double showers, Victorian ball-and-claw bath, mammal and bird reference books, fully stocked mini-bar, robes, mosquito repellent, safe, umbrella, hairdryer and complimentary WiFi.

The Waterbuck private villa can be booked on an exclusive-use basis for families and groups seeking absolute exclusivity. Positioned on the banks of the dry Nhlaralumi River, the villa houses eight guests across four bedrooms and is equipped with its own game viewer, villa host and chef to cater to its visitors every need.

Delectable meals can be enjoyed across numerous locations within Kings Camp, including fine dining in the dining room, relaxed lunches on the patio overlooking the waterhole, traditional boma dinners, breakfasts in the bush and private meals on the verandah of the guest suites. Most dietary requirements can be catered to, with the camp specialising in the needs of vegan and kosher visitors to make sure a stay here is as carefree as possible.
