This intimate lodge is situated in the heart of Loango National Park, and offers unique access to the remarkable wildlife and habitats of a region often dubbed “Africa’s Last Eden”.
Loango Savannah Camp is an idyllic base for experiencing the extraordinary wildlife of one of Gabon’s most remote and species-rich national parks. Nestled beside the peaceful Iguela Lagoon, the lodge offers the comforts that make a stay in such an unspoilt location truly memorable.
Accommodation is in spacious canvas tents, thoughtfully designed with kingsize beds, air-conditioning and private bathrooms, creating a comfortable retreat after days spent exploring. Each tent opens onto a raised deck with sweeping views across the lagoon and surrounding savannah, a perfect place to unwind and enjoy quiet moments immersed in nature.
Meals are served overlooking the water and grasslands, before you head out with expert guides to explore the surrounding landscapes. Boat safaris from the camp reveal the magnificent birdlife of Iguela Lagoon, while game drives venture inland through the park’s striking mix of savannah, forest and coastal habitats.
Wildlife is abundant, with opportunities to track habituated lowland gorillas, search for red-capped and grey-cheeked mangabeys, and watch forest elephants, buffalo and possibly sitatunga or red river hogs in forest clearings and swamps. Birdlife here is among the most diverse in Central Africa, with highlights ranging from rosy and black-headed bee-eaters to African finfoots, African river martins, and the impressive Pel’s fishing owl.
