Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is a marvel of natural design, architecture and minimalism, perfectly blending to its environment whilst enjoying top class luxury, uninterrupted privacy and incredible game viewing.
The most exclusive lodge in the Sabi Sabi collection, each property features a time-related theme, and the award-winning Earth Lodge provides the safari experience of tomorrow. From the outside, the lodge is inconceivable, built into a hillside with a meandering pathway leading to large wooden doors and into a semicircle structure around a serene water feature with panoramic vistas of the bush beyond, creating a spectacle as soon as visitors enter the property. Elephants are occasionally spotted on the roof of the lodge as they utilise the natural slope to search for the fruits of the marula trees dotted around the lodge, and a variety of additional species visit the waterhole, which guests can monitor from their seats around the firepit.
A stylish lounge with a cosy fireplace and opulent safari décor is located conveniently close to the bar, which is constructed from a large portion of tree trunk, adding additional extravagance to the space. To adhere to Sabi Sabi’s sustainable approach, many of the materials excavated during the construction of the lodge have been utilised in the build, including natural fibres and soil cladding to replicate the earthy tones of the surroundings whilst maintaining untold levels of luxury.
The unique avant-garde aesthetic extends to the 12 secluded luxury suites and private Amber Villa with carefully curated design, comfort and sophistication. Each room benefits from cinematic views of the encompassing landscape, with wildlife regularly passing by as visitors observe from their private patio with elegant outdoor lounge and plunge pool. The spacious air-conditioned interiors are light and bright with large glass windows, king-sized bed, lounge, bespoke hand-crafted furniture, beautiful soft furnishings and tasteful artwork. Stunning marble en suites are generously proportioned with double vanity units, lavish bathtub, indoor and outdoor showers.
The expansive Amber Villa is blessed with almost all the same features as the suites but with a larger lounge with drinks bar and mini office, a larger master bedroom with dressing room, a second bedroom with dressing and vanity area, a second bathroom, a small private exercise space, and access to a private safari vehicle and guide. The headboard in the master bedroom is a masterpiece, carved from local matumi wood, and the en suite forgoes marble to exhibit a more natural woody appearance with a splendid freestanding bathtub. The villa sleeps a maximum of six people (four adults and two children).
Each delicious à la carte meal at Earth Lodge is meticulously crafted to the highest standards with unfaltering attention to detail by the highly experienced culinary team, who are always flexible to adapt dishes to suit every palate. The contemporary gastronomic experience embodies the luxury feel with fresh seasonal ingredients used to create a variety of local and international plates, taking inspiration from the environment's seasonal colours and traditional flavours, finished with intricate flair.
Numerous dining settings are found throughout the property, including a day bar where guests can enjoy lunches whilst dipping their feet in an ankle-deep pool to combat the heat of the day in the refreshing waters. Dinners take place in the stunning boma, illuminated by safari lanterns and roaring fires or, on request, in the comfort of the guest suites or in the subterranean wine cellar where over 6,000 bottles of wonderful South African wines line the walls.
For those looking for added relaxation, the Amani Spa features a range of therapeutic treatments whilst appreciating the serenity of the natural environment. Other facilities include a gym with views of the surrounding bush allowing guests to maintain their fitness routines and a boutique shop that stocks plenty of souvenirs to take back home.
