Tafika consists of six comfortable grass and pole chalets catering for a maximum of just 14 guests, and as such is able to offer a highly personalised, friendly service and flexible wildlife activities.

Tafika is a superbly situated owner-run camp on a private spur of land just to the north of the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park, on a magnificent stretch of the Luangwa River. This exceptional area for wildlife offers quick, easy access to both the Nsefu sector and the national park on the opposite (west) bank, and the nearby salt pans can be particularly fruitful when looking for serval.

The comfortable en suite chalets have double or twin beds and are built from natural materials around the trunks of the camp's sausage trees and come equipped with solar fans, a solar communal charging area, USB charging facilities in the chalet and laundry service. Additional room types include a honeymoon suite with a king-size bed, and another suite suitable for families with a king-size bed and two doubles. Tafika also has two excellent photographic hides, one overlooking the river which can be particularly enjoyable from early September onwards, when the carmine bee-eaters have returned to nest in the river bank, and one overlooking a small waterhole frequented by elephants which enjoy bathing and drinking there.

The guiding from Tafika is outstanding, with a number of the guides having been at the lodge for many years. With so few guests, a prime location, fantastic guiding and game drives being limited to four guests per vehicle (larger vehicle available for groups), the camp offers an exceptional personalised game-viewing experience. In addition to traditional walks and vehicle safaris, the camp operates unique boating and canoeing excursions searching for wildlife between mid-February and mid-April when the river level is high.

A stay at Tafika combines well with its two satellite camps - Chikoko and Crocodile River.
