The hotel décor is based on the style of the royal Jat rulers of Bharatpur who reached the height of their powers in the 18th century under the leadership of Badan Singh and Churaman. A former duck-shooting reserve of the Maharajas, it became a national park in 1982 and is now recognised as one of the finest waterbird sanctuaries in the world, home to more than 300 species, including the gorgeous sarus crane.
