Typical Itinerary

1. Day 1: Depart the UK

2. Day 2: Arrive Kilimanjaro Airport, transfer to Arusha and fly Central Serengeti

   On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we are met and driven to the town of Arusha. Here we are dropped off at the domestic airport to catch our light aircraft flight to the Seronera Airstrip in the Central Serengeti.

   We are met on arrival at the airstrip in the Serengeti and transferred to our first camp, a drive which is likely to include a variety of wildlife on route.

3. Days 3-4 : Explore Central Serengeti

   For the next two days we will explore the scenic landscapes of the Central Serengeti in pursuit of the regions famed wildlife inhabitants. Depending on our preference this will either be through morning and afternoon safaris, or full day safaris, venturing out with a packed lunch. With luck we should encounter elephant, giraffe, buffalo, eland and large herds of plains zebras and Thomson's gazelles. Such a profusion of prey species inevitably attracts a range of predators including lion, leopard, cheetah and clans of spotted hyena, alongside smaller predators such as bat-eared fox, black-backed jackal and even perhaps serval.

4. Day 5: Transfer to North Serengeti

   This morning, after breakfast, we are transferred from the Central Serengeti to the northern regions of this magnificent national park. This transfer is effectively another game drive, as we look out for wildlife and, with luck, enjoy several rewarding encounters en route. We reach our new camp in time for lunch and a game drive in the afternoon.

5. Days 6-8 : Explore the Northern Serengeti

   Over the course of the next three days, we explore the Northern Serengeti on game drives in our private vehicles. Once again, the majority of these outings will be in the early morning or late afternoon; however, there is also the possibility of going on full-day drives, with a picnic lunch, in order to maximise our chances of witnessing a river crossing.

   Though witnessing a river crossing can never be guaranteed, the chaos and frenzy surrounding it make for an unforgettable experience, which at the same time is hugely humbling. Generally our guides will try to avoid the most congested areas and use their superior knowledge and many years of experience to locate spots that are less busy but still reliable for watching a crossing.

6. Day 9: Fly to Arusha and transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for flight to UK

   Following lunch we are transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport and a nearby lodge where a day room has been booked so we can relax before our international flights in the evening. Later we transfer the short distance from our lodge to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time to check-in for our onward flights.
