My Top Five Wildlife Trips for 2024

With the New Year now underway, there’s no better time to plan your wildlife adventures for 2024 and these are my top five trip ideas for this year. There is something for everyone, and as these are tailor-made trip ideas, there is so much scope to customise the itineraries to suit your expectations and wildlife interests.

Bears, Wolves & Wolverines Self-drive

For those looking to travel at their own pace, why not head to the wilds of Northern Finland in search of Europe’s top predators? Staying at three different properties, each offering a very different experience, you can take advantage of purpose-built wildlife hides offering outstanding wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities. There are few places in the world where an experience this spectacular is possible. This tour offers perhaps the best chance in all of Europe to observe bears, wolverines and wolves, along with European elk, Finnish forest reindeer, red squirrel, and white-tailed eagle. If travelling in luxury is more your speed, then consider adding a stay at the Bear Centre Luxury Cabins to your itinerary.

Leopards of Luangwa

Zambia is a destination that is almost synonymous with Wildlife Worldwide and our Leopards of Luangwa itinerary is a perfect example of why we love both Zambia and in particular South Luangwa National Park. This trip is not to be missed; you stay at stunning, intimate bush camps with unrivalled walking safaris in one of the most iconic parks in southern Africa. There you have excellent opportunities to see African wild dogs, lions and elephants, along with spectacular carmine bee-eater colonies. Not forgetting that the park is home to the highest density of leopards in Africa, so your chance of encountering these elusive predators is greatly increased. With numerous accommodation options and potential extensions to the Lower Zambezi or Kafue National Parks and Victoria Falls, this is the trip of a lifetime!

Pantanal & Amazon Wildlife Extravaganza

This trip takes you to the two premier wildlife destinations in Brazil: the Pantanal for incredible jaguar viewing opportunities, and the depths of the  Amazon Rainforest for a luxury experience at Cristalino Lodge. An amazing itinerary awaits you with plenty of wildlife to discover,  including giant river otters, Brazilian tapir, capybara, yacare caiman, hyacinth macaw and many other mammal, reptile and bird species. Activities are varied, with walking, vehicle and boat safaris all on offer. A variety of accommodations in the Pantanal are available for you to choose from. Extending your trip to explore the southern Pantanal would give you a thrilling opportunity to encounter giant anteater and other fantastic species. Iguazu Falls and Rio de Janeiro are also easily paired with this itinerary, providing an unforgettable Brazilian experience.

Highlights of the Falkland Islands

Abundant albatross and penguin colonies await in the Falklands, along with giant elephant seals and Antarctic fur seals. This is an experience like no other, where you hop between islands searching for various penguin species including gentoo, king, rockhopper, Magellanic and macaroni, and stay at comfortable cottages and lodges on an almost uninhabited island. Around you, the wildlife is allowed to thrive. At certain times, cetaceans can be viewed from the shore, including enigmatic orcas which patrol the coast for fur seals as they head out to hunt in deeper waters. With so much wildlife and history to discover, this is an astounding destination. There are various extension options, including war tours and wildlife watching in mainland South America. Our expert team can help you navigate your way to the ultimate wildlife adventure.

Tiger, Tiger

Embark on an adventure to discover one of the world's most iconic species, the Bengal tiger. This trip takes you to some of central India’s finest reserves, focusing on the best locations for observing these mysterious striped felines. You stay in incredible camps and your tour culminates with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal. In this part of the subcontinent, you have the chance to see leopard, Indian wild dog and sloth bear, along with numerous antelope, deer and bird species. There are various accommodation options at each park which will suit a range of budgets. Extension options are almost limitless when it comes to India, as there is so much wildlife and culture on offer.
