Discovering Namibia and the 1937 Powell-Cotton Expedition

Enjoy a fascinating evening on Thursday 24 September discovering the contrasting landscapes of Namibia - one of the most hauntingly beautiful countries on the planet - and hear accounts from the diaries of Christopher and Percy Powell-Cotton's 1937 expedition to the country.

Whilst also illustrating the route and story of  Percy Powell Cotton’s penultimate expedition, this engaging, insightful and emphatic presentation will walk people through the seemingly limitless opportunities for wildlife and discovery in Namibia, and its addictive-qualities that have fascinated and captured the hearts, minds and eyes of so many travellers, scientists, conservationists and explorers for centuries.

Co–director of Wildlife Worldwide, Nick Joynes, first travelled to Namibia in 2001 and hasn’t yet been able to get the country out of his system. Returning almost every year since, suggestions are that if he were cut open it would say the word ‘Namibia’ and that his veins flow with the red sand of the ancient Namib!

The evening will take place on Thursday 24 September at 7:00pm at Quex Barn, within the grounds of The Powell-Cotton Museum at Quex Park – the family home (now museum) of Percy Powell-Cotton.

Refreshments will be offered upon arrival, and a suggested voluntary contribution of £5 can be paid on the door. Pre-registration for this event is essential by submitting your details via our online registration form.
