Bori Wildlife Sanctuary is one of India’s quieter tiger reserves, offering spectacular wildlife sightings in a magnificent landscape. Home to a healthy and increasing tiger population, the park is one of the country’s hidden gems.
Situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh, in the foothills of the Satpura Range, Bori Wildlife Sanctuary covers around 650 square kilometres. As one of India’s oldest reserves, the sanctuary offers some of the best safari experiences on the subcontinent. The habitat mainly comprises dry deciduous forest, with teak being the predominant species, as well as bamboo, interspersed with beautiful meadows.
Bori supports a wide variety of mammals, with the Bengal tiger being the major draw, but it's also home to other predators including leopard, sloth bear and dhole, while ungulates include chital, sambar, barasingha, nilgai and gaur. The birdlife here is equally impressive, with over 240 species having been recorded.
The sanctuary has gained a reputation for being one of the country’s best kept secrets, making Bori an attractive destination for those looking to enjoy world-class tiger encounters.
