Said to offer the best bushveld birding in Namibia, the area surrounding the granitic Erongo Mountains are home to a variety of near-endemics.

Amongst the special mammals to be seen in the Erongo Mountains are black rhino, African elephant, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, wildebeest, black-faced impala, blesbok, waterbuck, greater kudu, warthog, Cape mountain zebra, gemsbok, eland and springbok, while more than 200 bird species have been recorded here to date.

One of the joys of staying in the Erongo Mountains is a chance to explore the area’s numerous walking trails. The San people, who lived in the rocky hills of the Erongo, left rock paintings dating back thousands of years, and many of these paintings can still be seen.
