Comprising of five valleys located in Qinghai Province, this remote and secluded location is gaining a reputation for its sightings of cats, such as snow leopard, Eurasian lynx and Pallas's cat.

The valleys are best explored by 4-wheel drive vehicles, which are needed to traverse the dirt roads and tracks to access the sites where the cats can be observed. Scanning the ridgelines and the slopes can provide numerous rewarding sightings of charismatic species, but a great deal of patience is required.

Other species that can be encountered here include kiang, blue sheep, Chinese mountain cat, Tibetan fox, red fox, Tibetan gazelle, woolly hare and red deer. The valleys are also an excellent site for birds, such as Przewalski partridge, Himalayan and Tibetan snowcock, golden eagle, and bearded vulture.
