One of the best whale watching locations in Africa, Hermanus offers excellent cetacean encounters from the land and from the water, especially in Walker’s Bay.

The coastal town of Hermanus really comes alive between June and November, when the whales arrive in abundance, providing a fantastic wildlife spectacle and remarkable natural experience. It's one of the world's finest locations for shore-based whale watching, with humpbacks and southern right whales seen almost daily. It's also possible to head out on boat trips as well to encounter the cetaceans. There's good birdwatching here too, with over 100 local species, including blue cranes and African fish eagles.

Away from wildlife, Hermanus has grown into a vibrant location complemented beautifully by its wide selection of boutiques, art galleries, fine restaurants and shops, as well as offering numerous outdoor and adventure activities for the discerning nature enthusiast.
