Salt pans and expansive grasslands characterise Kalahari Private Reserve - a 96,400 hectare desert landscape which features just one small tourist lodge and a vast array of spectacular wildlife species.
Once a series of wildlife depleted cattle farms in the Kalahari Desert, this private reserve has been restored to its former glory after private ownership brought down the farm fences and restored the landscape. Introducing many animals, whilst enabling existing populations to recover has rebalanced this ecosystem so that it is now a healthy and flourishing area.
Visitors to the Kalahari Private Reserve can expect to see a host of wildlife including cheetah, lion, wild dog, elephant, pangolin, brown hyena and aardwolf to name but a few. The reserve is also home to 196 different bird species including some of the country’s most endangered species including the lappet faced vulture.
You are not likely to encounter another vehicle during your entire stay! Away from towns, there is no light or sound pollution, so you are able to enjoy this exclusive and spectacular wilderness completely.
