The reserve, which occupies the island’s hilly spine, supports an extremely diverse ecosystem, and is one of only two places in the world where you can see white-tailed sabrewing in the wild.

Tobago has over 200 species of bird, many of which can be found in this forest reserve, including blue-crowned motmot, collared trogon and blue-backed manakin. You will also see several species of butterfly, spider and land crab while out walking on the trails. The pristine highlands receive most of the island’s rainfall - in fact, the vast majority of the island’s freshwater supply comes from this forest – which makes the protection and future of the reserve even more crucial.
