Covering 17,500 acres, the Ol Kinyei Conservancy is a stretch of former cattle-land in the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem which has been leased by the Maasai community for wildlife conservation.

The first reserve created within the Great Maasai Mara Ecosystem, Ol Kinyei is home to mammals including a resident pride of over 20 lions, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, Cape buffalo, several species of antelope and elephants. About 300 bird species have also been recorded in the conservancy.

In January, the wildebeest and zebras arrive and give birth before continuing their migration. The main migration takes place later in the year (June to October).
