The Réserve Faunique Matane offers great wildlife watching opportunities as its mud flats are the perfect place to see and watch moose. Over 150 species of birds can also be seen in the reserve.

The reserve contains over 100 kilometres of trails for hiking: as you hike the Mont Blanc trail you can appreciate how the vegetation changes, and along the International Appalachian Trail you can enjoy spectacular mountain scenery. If you like wild berries, in season you can pick juicy raspberries. The two-kilometre long Étang à la Truite lake is a great place for kayaking, and you might even spot a moose in its natural habitat while you paddle.
