Sussex is a fabulous location for wildlife and in particular butterflies, which owing to its varied habitats and southerly location hosts a diverse range of rare and localised species.

At its heart is the fabulous 1400-hectare Knepp Estate. Since 2001 the land – once intensively farmed, has been devoted to a pioneering rewilding project that has seen many previously rare species reestablish breeding populations, including the reintroduction of white storks.
