Yorkshire Dales National Park

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is a 2,178 square kilometre national park in Northern England that is largely found in North Yorkshire, but also extends into Cumbria and Lancashire.

Designated in 1954 and later extended in 2016, the park is widely regarded as one the UK's most beautiful regions, with sweeping river valleys and rolling hills. 

Famed for its striking landscapes, the National Park comprises a mosaic of habitats ranging from species rich hay meadows and calcareous grasslands to oak woodlands, blanket bog and heathlands. These habitats subsequently support a diverse range of species with notable populations of red squirrel, brown hare, upland breeding birds such as black grouse and ring ouzel, and locally scarce invertebrates such as the Northern brown argus butterfly.
